Azores
We visited the Azores outside of the main tourist season – a travel window we often prefer. Not only is it usually more affordable, but the places are also much more relaxed, without the crowds. It also makes it easier to connect with the locals, who are either energetically preparing for the season or reflecting on a busy period, often sharing their experiences with genuine enthusiasm.
The only downside is that, depending on the destination and time of year, some services or attractions may be closed. On the Azores, for example, not all ferries were running frequently, which meant we had to stay on the main island of São Miguel. On the bright side, it gave us a reason to return in the future to explore the other islands as well.
